Historic Brewmaster house with Singing Hops Brewing Company, Sandstone Distillery, and Tumwater Warehouse District. Pick up the bus at the Historic Schmidt House. Sample a special brew by Singing Hops Brewing Company made with locally-sourced ingredients at the historic Tumwater Brewery and Brewmaster’s House. Take a behind the scenes tour of Sandstone Distillery, followed by a Craft Crawl at the Tumwater Warehouse District. Tastings from Triceratops and Matchless breweries paried with spent-grain pretzels from 8 Arms Bakery and Ila’s hand-crafted mustard. 

Cost includes bus transportation to each site, tours and tastings. Pick up the bus at the historic Schmidt House, 330 Schmidt Pl SW, Tumwater, WA 98501, in Tumwater, WA. 

Must be 21+ to sign up.

Sourdough English Muffins and Salted Chocolate Chunk Spelt Cookies with Cortney Morentin, Baker and Owner of Wyld Bread, a whole grain enthusiast. Learn tips and tricks to make hearty, whole grain staples such as Red Wheat and Emmer Sourdough English Muffins and Spelt Salted Chocolate Chunk Cookies in this hands-on class. For the English muffins, mill fresh-made flour, then make the flavor of choice: sage cheddar, dill havarti, miso maple, or create your own! Go home with the skills to make delicious Sourdough English Muffins and (almost) everybody's favorite cookie, Spelt Salted Chocolate Chunk. 

Hosted at The Sustainable Agriculture Lab at the Evergreen State College located at 2711 Lewis Road NW, Olympia WA, adjacent to the Organic Farm, west of the main campus of the Evergreen State College.

Focaccia for Breakfast with Mel Darybyshire and Laura Ohm of Grand Central Baking. In this hands-on class, we will make focaccia featuring freshly milled local grains. The focaccia we mix and form will be baked and enjoyed at Saturday’s breakfast, and will be topped with apples, sausage, and other surprises. Come prepared to get your hands floury!

Learn what you need to know to select, adjust, maintain, and operate a combine. Combines are highly efficient harvesting machines…if they are properly adjusted, maintained, and run by an experienced operator. A beginners intro to the functional parts and key adjustments such as concave clearance, fan speed for different grains, chaffer and sieve openings, cylinder speed, and much more. Comb through the major and minor working parts of several sizes and types of combines. Led by experienced grain farmers and equipment mechanics. Also take a full tour of Kirsop Farm, a diversified grain, vegetable, and livestock operation, hearing about their grain production and feed operation, and how their sheep, chicken, vegetable and grain operations fit together.

London Plane Hosts: Plane Grains, A Taste of Local Grain Terroir

London Plane Hosts: Plane Grains, A Taste of Local Grain Terroir. A collaborative dinner at the London Plane exploring the terroir of grains grown in Cascadia in celebration of the annual Cascadia Grains Conference. An intoxicating journey from seed to plate, this evening kicks off with a Variety Exploration, tasting the nuances of flavors of the same grains grown in different climates throughout our ecologically diverse state. Hosted by the Culinary Breeding Network and the London Plane, this event pairs unique courses with small-batch, locally malted brews.

Heritage Beer Tasting: Olympia! An intoxicating journey from seed to sip, explore the origins of heritage grains used to make the very brews savored during this three hour pairing. A historical tasting event exploring the complexities of heirloom grains in modern-day brews. From Fur-trade to the Pacific Railroad, your intoxicating journey will be guided by historian Dr. Richard Scheuerman (Palouse Heritage) and Joel Williamson (The Grain Shed) along with baker Rob Salvino (Damsel and Hopper) and the  South Puget Sound Community College Catering team. Hosted at the historical Tumwater Brewery Schmidt House, this event pairs unique dishes with small-batch brews made fresh with Palouse Heritage Heirloom Grains, including Sonora White, Red Russian, Scotsbere, and Purple Egyptian.

Participating breweries include Propolis Brewing (Port Townsend), Three Magnets Brewing (Olympia) and The Grain Shed (Spokane).
